The overall look of the wedding is most apparent in two places: One is the processional and the image that the bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen create as they walk down the aisle and participate in the ceremony. And the other is in the photos of the wedding party.

The attire that the wedding party wears plays big part in creating a beautiful vision in this once-in-a-lifetime event. When thinking of wedding party attire, it is usually the bridesmaid dresses that come to mind. But the groom’s and groomsmen’s attire are just as important.

When choosing attire for the men, it is best to have the groom’s attire slightly different from the groomsmen’s. Examples of this can be seen in the three weddings featured below. In the first one, the groom wears a different suit and tie from his groomsmen but they blend perfectly. In the second one, the groom wears a white tie, pocket square and boutonnière while the groomsmen wear red. In the third one, the groom wears a jacket while the groomsmen wear vests. His tie is different also. These subtle differences are perfectly executed and allow the groom to stand out from the other men in the wedding party, yet create a visually appealing look.

The formality of the men’s attire should match the formality of the wedding. If you are having a black-tie (or white-tie) wedding, it really makes it easier because most everything in their attire is already established. However, if the style of your wedding means that the men will wear suits, you and your groom have lots of decisions to make!
