An Orange Color Combination for Your Fall Wedding
If you are planning an autumn wedding it is not too early to start planning now. At the very least, it’s time to start choosing your wedding color theme. Typically for fall, the colors are deeper and warmer.
When I think of colors that “say” autumn, one of the first colors that comes to mind for me and probably for most other people, as well, is orange. In this blog post I will show you color ideas using orange with plum, purple, green and brown. With these combinations you can easily add seasonal decorations and accessories, which are easy to find as fall approaches.
When choosing a wedding color combination that includes orange for a fall wedding you can save money by using the many items from nature that are available in the fall such as pumpkins, colorful mums, wheat, leaves, and other natural elements.
The Plum and Orange palette below uses colors similar to Pantone’s Acai and Koi. The orange is not the main color but is an accent that leaves no doubt that this is an autumn wedding.
In my Purple and Orange collage I used a bit lighter shade of orange than I used with the plum. A darker shade of orange would work, also.
An Orange and Green combination for fall generally works best with a darker shade of orange and a warm shade of green. A few months’ ago I created an orange and green collage that works for spring and summer and want to share it in a link here. You can see how different it looks from the collage below, just by changing the hue of the colors. Tangerine and Green Color Story
Orange paired with Brown lends itself well to natural, earthy elements.

I am having a July wedding with an Orange & Ivory Theme. I love the orange shoes in the Plum Orange wedding collection – who makes them?
Hi Melissa, I did some research on the shoes and here is a link to the shoes in a collage with comments from the original person who pinned them when someone else asked about them. http://pinterest.com/pin/164451823862924450/. We also found them in this photoshoot from 2012 so the shoes may not even be current now.

Do you have any ideas for a mother-of-the-groom dress for a plum/burnt orange wedding? Mom of bride is wearing beige.
Hi Eileen, there are so many variables here … the formality of the wedding, your basic size/body shape, season of the year, etc. that I just wouldn’t know where to begin. I will suggest, though, checking Nordstrom.com as they have a nice selection ….. http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/mother-of-the-bride-dresses?origin=leftnav

I am having a wedding in September and want to use burnt orange, brown and green. what do you advice
Hi Hilda, Yes, I think that is a great combination. We know that brown works well with green and with orange and orange and green work well together, so the three colors should be just fine. Not sure if you have seen my green and brown collage in this post, but maybe it will help!
Best wishes!

I love your ideas, do you have any fall pallets that would include pink? My daughters want to wear pink in my October wedding.
Hi Leanne, I’m so glad you are enjoying the blog! I don’t have any palettes with pink that are especially for fall but suggest that they wear a darker shade of pink. One of my new favorite combinations is olive green with pink. I wonder if they have any flexibility on their color choice. With pink you won’t be able to use any seasonal decor unless you stick with all green. Here’s a blog post that might help, along with some other links. Best wishes!

I’m getting married October 2015 and would like to incorporate autumn colors but can’t decide which color. Im liking the orange and Brown but I want some reds greens . Can you please advise. Would cranberry go in the mix? I don’t know if I want the guys to wear different color vest or wear the same color and vise versa for the girls. Thanks
Hi Erica and best wishes on your engagement! I generally like to see no more than 3 main colors because it is just hard to make a big impression with your colors if there are too many. Since brown is really a neutral I think you could easily add other colors. I think if you have orange, red and green with the brown you will end up with a nice, fall palette. It won’t stand out though color-wise because there will be quite a few colors. With a fall palette you will have access to lots of decorating items such as dried leaves, pine cones, etc. I love cranberry but am not quite sure how it would work with brown. Have you seen all of my posts on fall weddings? I have lots of photos and ideas. Also our Fall Weddings Pinterest board has lots of photos. I always think it is easier if you can find a photo of exactly what you want so you can see it “in action”! Here are some links just in case. All the best to you, Erica.

Your blog is amazing!!! I love it and all of the wedding color options!!!! My fiancee and I wanted to do like a plum with a coral/orange type color for an October wedding, but I didn’t know if it would clash to have my bridemaids in coral/orange to for her to have her bridal party/groomsman in purple vests with purple socks? I wasn’t sure how this would go.
Hi Christina, I’m so glad you enjoy the blog! I don’t think it would clash at all. You didn’t mention your bridesmaids’ flowers but I suggest that you add pops of the plum in with the flowers or the floral ribbon, etc.
Best wishes!
Kind regards,
Sher
I love all the colors that you’ve paired together and could you please send me out some of your free samples if you have any please and thank you.
